Our traditional 4-star hotel is built on ancient Roman walls and located in the heart of Salzburg`s old town centre.

The Altstadthotel Kasererbräu is situated at the foot of the fortress Hohensalzburg, directly in the pedestrian area. The hotel has been run by the Giebisch family for generations.

The traditional and long-established hotel provides a family atmosphere during your stay. Our hotel is surrounded by many famous sights, the perfect starting point to explore the beautiful town. Our spa with sauna and steam bath invites to relax (included in the price).

Food & beverage

Our delicious and varied breakfast buffet awaits you from 06:30 until 10:30.

Enjoy great Italian cuisine in our restaurant "Trattoria Domani", open from 12:00 until 14:00 and from 18:00 until 22:00 (Closed on Sunday).

Visit our coffee-house "Cafe Sezession" for Austrian coffee specialities! Open from Monday to Friday 10:00 to 01:00. Weekends and Public Holidays it is open from 17:00 to 01:00.

Our 43 rooms, partly equipped with antique furniture, partly new renovated, offer you the highest level of comfort possible. Some categories offer additionally facilities including a minibar and a safety deposit box.

Area information

The Altstadthotel Kasererbräu is only a few minutes walk away from all famous and historical sights like the cathedral, the residence square with its ancient fountain, Mozart`s birthplace and St. Peter`s monastery. You will also find many traditional Austrian restaurants in the old town of Salzburg, within 10 minutes walking distance from our hotel.

In the old town and a short stroll from the fortress. Had single room overlooking street. Breakfast was included in price. Nice Italian restaurant in the hotel which I tried and the food was very good. Staff very friendly.

Quite a small single room with a shower, no bath. Didn't feel like a 4 star hotel. Small portable TV, No minibar or fridge to store cold drinks. There was a cinema in the hotel but all the films were in German. Some street noise at night but was to be expected. One outside window had broken off its hinges and was left in the room. Felt it should have been fixed or removed!

The fact that it is in the OLd CIty and in close proximity to the Fortress, Cathedral and shopping areas

Did not like the squeaky floor boards especially when we had children with us. I would not like to stay in the same family room again.

It was my first stay at this hotel. Single room is very small and noisy (room facing the street with restaurant terrace), bathroom is extremely small. I cannot recommend the single room; double rooms might be better though.
